Chronic fatigue and/or chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) has become increasingly recognized as a common clinical problem that physicians often find difficult to manage. The diagnosis of CFS is difficultdue to the absence of specific biomedical markers and depends primarily on determining whether subjective information provided by the patient meet the clinical case definition of this syndrome. The nature of the symptoms is complex. These complexities of the chronic fatigue syndrome indicate the need for more comprehensive, multidimensional and systematic interpretations. This review article highlights the ethiopathogenesis, clinical features, classifications and recent approaches to the patient management, utilizing current literature information relevant to chronic fatigue syndrome.
