Objective: The aim of this study was to translate the Foot Function Index into Turkish and perform its cross-cultural adaptation.

Material and Methods: The cross-cultural adaptation of the Foot Function Index was performed according to the recommendations of the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) guideline, which consists of translation, back translation, harmonization, pilot testing, review of results, corrections, and final report steps, respectively. A pilot test was carried out with 20 patients who had plantar fasciitis.

Results: The cross-cultural adaptation was performed according to the required steps, and after the harmonization step, the consensus version of the index was applied to the pilot group. Generally, the translation was clear and understandable for patients with plantar fasciitis. We modified and added minor explanations in the information part and for questions 7, 8, and 9 for pain, 3 and 8 for disability, and 2, 4, and 5 for activity limitation to make the Foot Function Index appropriate for use in Turkish-speaking patients. Eventually, the final version of the index was prepared according to the target population to perform reliability and validity.

Conclusion: It was considered that the successfully translated and adapted Turkish version of the Foot Function Index provides an assessment for pain, disability, and activity limitation for foot diseases and encourages further research.

Başlık: Ayak Fonksiyon İndeksi’nin Plantar Fasiitli Hastalarda Türkçe’ye Çeviri ve Adaptasyonu

Anahtar kelimeler: Ayak fonksiyon indeksi, ayak, ağrı, plantar fasiit, Türkçe

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, Foot Function Index’in (Ayak Fonksiyon İndeksi) Türkçe çeviri ve adaptasyonunu gerçekleştirmektir.
