Cervical column involvement is often seen in rheumatoid arthritis. In the present study, we aimed to investigate the atlantoaxial subluxations, transverse ligament thickening, pannus formation, cervicomedullary angle changes and cord-dura compression in RA patients. Not only the signs of involvement were investigated by plain radiography, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging, but also the relations with laboratory and clinical features were evaluated; and MRI was found to be superior to other imaging modalities. Also there was a positive correlation among the laboratory features and MRI findings.
