Objective: Neuropathic pain is briefly defined as pain caused by a lesion in the nervous system and is common in clinical practice. In our study,we aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of pregabalin in oncology patients which was being frequently used in recent years in the treatment of neuropathic pain by using VAS and LANSS.

Material and Methods: 30 oncology patients (17 women and 13 men) that had the diagnose of neuropathic pain were included in the study. Patient’s LANSS and VAS values were recorded before treatment. Patients undergo to pregabalin therapy(300mg/day) and their LANSS and VAS values were followed after 1. and 3. months.

Results: VAS and LANSS values before the treatment were found 76.83 and 16.70 respectively, 66.16 and 12.83 at the firth month, 46.16 and 8.93 at the third month.  In our study, pregabalin that has been frequently used in recent years for neuropathic pain in the practice of different clinics,of neurology was found to be highly effective both in short term and medium term in oncology patients.

Conclusion: For future trials, we recommend to assess comorbidities, quality of life, symptoms and signs with standardized tools and attempt to better define responder profiles to specific drug treatments.
