Although it has been known for a long time, relationship between rheumatic diseases and endocrinopathies is still important subject in the recent studies. Some rheumatic syndromes can develop in thepatients with hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Arthropathy in hypothyroidism occurs due to accumulation of hyaluronate synovial spaces. Rheumatic syndromes in Hashimoto's thyroiditis usually manifests as fibrositis.
A woman patient, who applied to our hospitalbecause of rheumatic symptoms lasting 6 months, had arthralgia in her some joints and arthritis in her hand joints. Because rheumatic diseases couldt't be detected and antimicrosomal antibody and primary hyporthyroidism was founded in the patients, she was diagnosed as a Hashimoto's thyroiditis and started the treatment of aspirin and L-thyroksin. We have reported this case in order to emphasize the relationship between rheumatic diseases and endocrinopathies, especially thyroid diseases.
