Kronik Mekanik Bel Ağrılı Olgularda Spinal Mobilite, Ağrı ve Özürlülük İlişkisinin Değerlendirilmesi

Correlation of Spinal Mobility, Pain and Disability in Chronic Mechanic Low Back Pain Patients Chronic Mechanic Low Back Pain (LBP) is a common health problem leading to disability in daily living activities. This study evaluated the relation between spinal mobility, pain and disability in LBP patients. Fifty patients (19 men, 31 women), ages ranged between 26-63 with LBP for a period of at least six months were included in the study. Patients with vertebral fractures, a disc herniation requiring operative treatment, pregnants, inflamatory and tumoral diseases, progressive lomber spondylarthrosis and spondylolysthesis were excluded. Spinal range of motions, pain and disability parameters were assesed. Spinal mobility included the flexion, extension, right-left lateral flexion and schoeber test. Fexion and extension were measured by double inclinometer method. Pain intensity was assessed by using 0-4 scale. Two different self-report disability assesments, the Pain Disability Index (PDI) and Oswestry Disability Questionnaire (ODQ) were employed to the patients. Statistically significant correlation was observed between pain and PDI (r=0.54, p=0.0001). There was a moderately significant correlation between pain and ODQ (r=0.32, p=0.025). Also moderately significant inverse correlation was observed between the ODQ and lomber flexion (r=-0.33, p=0.019). There was not a statistically correlation between schoeber, right-left lateral flexion and PDI and ODQ (p>0.005). As a result, there is a relation between disability assessments and pain but not always with spinal mobility. We suggest that besides the phy-sical examination, self-report disability assessments would be helpfull for the patients with LBP.
