Assesment of correlation between disability scores and outcome in low back painpatients. Outcome of conservative or surgical treatments in low back pain have been affected by the difficulty of making objektive measurements. oswestry disability and Low-back outcome scores are two disability scores which have been developed for the measurement of disabilitiy in low-back pain populations. These scores are generally well-accepted and used in clinical settings.
The aim of this study was to compare two disability scores in low-back pain patients and assess the influence of patient related factors on disability. In our study; 60 patients (48 females, 12 males) with chronic low-back pain were evaluated by visual analog scale (VAS), employment, spinal mobility and disability scores.
The correlation of Low-back outcome score with Oswestry disability score were significant. Statistically higher correlation was also found between disability scores, pain, employment and spinal mobility. In conclusion, Oswestry disability score and Lowback outcome score were found to be effective to assess the disability and identify the progrostic factors in low-back pain patients.
